Do you have pupil places to fill for September? Are you effectively promoting this to prospective families in your area?
In some areas, fewer than 85% of families have been allocated their first choice primary school when places were announced this week, meaning thousands of children missed out on their top selection. The incredible quality of prep school provision during the challenges of the last couple of years, along with recent disruption, means that some of these families will be seriously considering jumping into independent education for the first time.
This is your chance to promote YOUR school to them!
There’s no shame in letting these families know that you have a few places available and what your school can offer. Create a pop-up message on the home page of your school website, have a vinyl banner created to hang outside the school gates and encourage current parents to share the news via social media.
Emphasise the positive – what makes your Reception class unique? What bespoke facilities have you got? What is your teacher:pupil ratio? What are you known for? Quote current parents as credible and powerful persuaders. Let them know your school is what they need!
Secondary school place allocation happens in March, so it’s well worth senior independent schools doing the same when the time comes to win hearts and minds.
So what are you waiting for?
