One of the most common questions we get from schools is, “We have all this great stuff happening in our school, yet we don’t know which aspects to talk about in our marketing. Do you have any tips?”

Yes, we do.

The simplest and most effective thing you can do to make sure you are engaging effectively with prospective parents is quite simply, to LISTEN to them.  

The good news is, you and any other parent-facing members of staff (school receptionist, admissions staff, the Head…) do this each and every day. 

The even better news is, we’re about to share our ‘one simple task to boost your school’s social media content’ <cue dramatic music>. 

THE TASK: 

Ask the key members of staff mentioned above two things: 

  1. What questions do they hear most from prospective parents? 
  2. What lights prospective parents up when you’re describing the school? What do they always want to hear more about? 

This is a great thing to do, because THIS is the stuff that’s going to resonate with prospective families. Why? Because THIS is what they want to know about and what will get them excited! 

So take this information and use it in your social media content (and wider of course). 

Needless to say, there are lots of other ways of listening to parents. One way is to go further and conduct in-depth parental research in the form of a survey or through focus groups.
