Another Friday has rolled around again and we’ve got another 5-star example of school marketing for you.

St Michael’s Prep is a 2-13 prep school in Kent, an area full of top notch schools, both state and independent. Competition is fierce but St Michael’s has a secret weapon in its marketing armoury: past pupils. Their pupils gain places at leading senior schools, many with scholarships to boot. They are rightly proud of the young people their pupils become.

This short interview features a recent leaver eloquently and enthusiastically answering a short series of questions, including one that will resonate with many prep schools: Why did you stay at St Michael’s for Years 7 and 8?

By tackling this head on, the school is showing prospective parents that there are real benefits to preps that go all the way up to 13. At the same time, past pupil Tom is a reassuring voice for current parents of the unique advantages of staying to Year 8, addressing potential retention issues.
